You’re gonna like the way you lewk ...
New Year, New Decade, same you with potentially a new outlook and readied perspective.
This is how I tend to enter each holiday season, excitedly reflecting on time’s passed successes lessons learned, epic moments, and subtle hiccups forgotten. The new year to me, as basic as it may sound, truly signifies a big opportunity to reiterate ONE’s goals, plan, and mindset. Something I’ve been focusing A LOT on as I get older is self-care and wellness in all of its forms. I’ve learned that, like everything, wellness is a delicate balance as fragile as a deck of cards. You may recall that almost 1 year ago, I placed a hard stop on things I’d been consuming for, what had seemed, hundreds of years: dairy, spicy, alcohol, refined flour, drugs, and sodas. Along this journey, I have learned so much about myself; my body is older but feels better than ever before, I truly am capable of new forms of achievement beyond how I’d understood my previous abilities, and the world has reciprocated this investment in self-care by enriching my relationships (personal, professional, romantic, and familial). All in all, last year’s re-edit was so wise and worth it!
Along that journey, as I invested in consumptive self-care and physical fitness, all whilst balancing in moderation my mind, body, spirit, and soul, I found myself investing deeper in my interests. Something else you may know about me ... I am not shy of frequently maintaining my outward appearance. I have been visiting my barber, Mark Frazer, every week for near a decade, I pop a needle or two in my face to prevent wrinkles (for ten years now), I invest in cosmetic products to nourish my skin, hair, and nails, and I’m always open to trying new things.
Revisiting that “once weekly visit” just stated above, I’ve been doing this specifically at Logan 14 Salon Spa. Basically it’s my version of “Cheers!” I’m popping up in there at least once weekly for over half a decade, I know everyone by more than just their names, I’ve become friends with near everyone on staff and fellow patrons, and I absolutely feel like this spot is my jam, my home away from home, my 100% reliable source for all things Cosmetic Wellness (as I’ve coined the term). Ironically, being of the “always be selling” mindset type of guy I am, a business owner who builds and promotes brands, and known to have thrown a Botox party or perhaps 22 in my career ;-), it had never occurred to me to offer to my friends a collaboration or creative partnership!
Call it the stars, call it fate, call it checking in to the same train leaving the same station toward a shared destination all at the same time, however, the analogy speaks to you, the end of 2019 offered Designing the District the opportunity to work with some of our favorite people (literally) on the entire planet: The Logan 14 Family!
Without having to bore you all too much with the semantics of our newfound partnership and working relationship, which I am so fricken pumped about, I’ll give you the skinny on what we are up whipping up together with my go-to spot for Cosmetic Wellness, a strong focus of expanded intellect, practice, investment, and fun for my 2020 New Year, same me, new version of my best self resolution.
Since I’ve been an avid visitor to the spa and salon, receiving beard trims, hair color, waxing (ev•ery•wherrrrre), facials, manis, pedis, all the massages, botox, and soooo many more I haven’t even tried yet, I felt it was 100% on-brand for us to promote the shit out of our on-going visits that we oh so love! With that, comes all the authentic shares (trust, believe, if you follow @TimurDC, you know I don’t hold shit back), the real 4-1-1 on learning and trying new products and services, giving you all our opinions and perspective, while working harmoniously along a brand marketing strategy to bring my other favorite people in the world (my friends, followers, fans and fam ... YOU ALL!) into the mix to share in all the love I have for practicing a healthy, best self lifestyle, and the love I have for the spot where I trust to take care of it all; Logan 14. This means IG stories galore, periodic posts, community events (just for you all), promotion with unique discounts, and product education (you gotta know your shit if you’re representing a brand I.M.O) and product promotion.
personally, I feel I’ve got the social shtick and event promo down pat like that’s one of my superpowers and I love to do it! Something a little fresh and new for me is finding both a way to educate myself on the products I’m representing, present that in a format that’s on-brand and digestible for both of us (don’t forget the work digestible, I’m getting to that), and fun!
So...drumroll...before I promote our upcoming event “detox retox - a Pre-Spring refresh weekend” featuring 20% Off Spa Services to Leap into 2020 - launching 2/20/2020 🤗 the date was just too good, I had to … sorry not sorry … I have an unedited cut of an episode for TimurDC we produced to both learn about and promote Aveda’s newest all vegan, sustainable, organic, gmo-free, edible and digestible (see there you go) product called “Nutriplenish.”
Honestly, once they told me it’s edible, i immediately thought, “Bitches, If this is edible, we’re making it on video to share with the world!”
After much-bated breath and anticipation, I present to you our rather hysterical, very informative, and extremely insightful (at least into my life and the Logan 14 culture), first episode of TimurDC “A Product ‘Cooking’ Demonstration with All-Things-Aveda.”
